Jane Button is a mixed media artist who makes small scale 2D and 3D works from her home studio in Wooroloo. She began making art in 2008 when she enrolled in the Arts and Design course at the (former) Midland TAFE.
Inspired by the human face, which plays a central role in much of her art, Jane's work explores the way characters are created through expression and setting, and features a strong emphasis on the lone figure.
With a current focus on printmaking, she often incorporates linocuts, drypoints and image transfers into her 3D pieces. She is intrigued by the metamorphosis her characters undertake as they progress through several different processes from original images to completed works.
In December 2017 she held her first exhibition at Mundaring Arts Centre, and in 2020 took part in two; WA Print Makers Association's Bodies of Work and Mundaring Arts Centre's Stories from Home.
In 2021, she held a solo exhibition at Ellis House arts centre entitled Distant Shores, and also presented a body of work at the Moores Building Gallery in Fremantle.
In 2022 she took part in Extricate, a group exhibition of contemporary printmaking held at Mundaring Arts Centre.
She is now preparing a body of work for the upcoming exhibition Face to Face, to be held at Ellis House in August 2023.
